Supplier Code of Conduct
This Supplier Code of Conduct sets out the standards we expect from all suppliers, partners, and subcontractors working with Dark Horse Roastery. It reflects our commitment to ethical sourcing, environmental stewardship, and respect for people throughout the coffee supply chain.
1. Legal Compliance
Suppliers must comply with:
- All applicable local, national, and international laws
- Labour, employment, and human‑rights regulations
- Environmental protection laws
- Health and safety standards
- Anti‑corruption and anti‑bribery legislation
2. Labour & Human Rights
Suppliers must uphold the following principles:
No forced labour
- No bonded, indentured, trafficked, or involuntary labour
- No retention of passports or identity documents
- No recruitment fees charged to workers
No child labour
- No employment of children under the minimum legal working age
- No hazardous work for anyone under 18
Fair treatment
- No discrimination
- No harassment, abuse, or intimidation
- Respect for freedom of movement and freedom of association
Fair wages & working hours
- Wages must meet or exceed legal minimums
- Overtime must be voluntary and compensated
- Working hours must comply with local law
3. Health & Safety
Suppliers must:
- Provide a safe, clean, and healthy working environment
- Ensure access to protective equipment
- Train workers on safe practices
- Maintain emergency procedures
4. Environmental Responsibility
Suppliers must:
- Minimise waste, emissions, and pollution
- Use resources responsibly
- Avoid harmful chemicals where possible
- Protect biodiversity and ecosystems
- Support regenerative and sustainable farming practices
5. Ethical Business Practices
Suppliers must:
- Operate with integrity and transparency
- Avoid corruption, bribery, and fraud
- Maintain accurate records
- Disclose subcontracting arrangements
- Report any conflicts of interest
6. Traceability & Transparency
Suppliers must:
- Provide clear traceability for all products and materials
- Disclose farm‑level information where possible
- Support long‑term, relationship‑based sourcing
7. Monitoring & Compliance
Dark Horse Roastery reserves the right to:
- Request documentation
- Conduct site visits (directly or via partners)
- Require corrective actions
- Suspend or terminate relationships for non‑compliance
8. Reporting Concerns
