People

For more than 60 years, Farm São José has been dedicated to producing exceptional coffee, with quality passed down through generations. Today, Lillian, the great-granddaughter of the farm's founder, continues this family legacy with a passion for both specialty coffee and sustainable farming. Supported by experienced technicians and agronomists, every stage of production is carefully managed, from planting seedlings through to post-harvest processing. During harvest, only perfectly ripe cherries are selectively hand-picked, reflecting the care and attention that goes into every lot produced.

Planet

Nestled at 1,100 metres above sea level in the Serra da Mantiqueira region of southern Minas Gerais, Farm São José benefits from a unique mountainous landscape and climate that are perfectly suited to growing specialty coffee. Alongside producing outstanding coffee, the farm is committed to protecting its natural surroundings. Lillian continues to preserve the property's native forests and natural springs, ensuring the land remains healthy for future generations. Harvesting the cherries onto cloths prevents contact with the soil, while careful drying, resting and storage methods help maintain the coffee's quality with minimal waste throughout the process.

Flavour

The combination of high-altitude cultivation, rich soils and the distinctive climate of Serra da Mantiqueira creates coffees with remarkable clarity, sweetness and complexity. Farm São José grows a range of sought-after varieties, including Yellow Bourbon, Yellow Catuai, Red Catuai, Catucai 24/137 and Arara, each contributing its own unique characteristics to the cup. By harvesting only fully ripe cherries and carefully drying them to the ideal moisture content before resting and processing, the team preserves the coffee's natural sweetness, balance and clean, expressive flavour profile.
