Kalingwe

Kalingwe

Tasting Notes: Stone fruits, nougat and dark chocolate

This is our second year working with Agri-Evolve, a B-Corp certified coffee producer/exporter based in western Uganda.

We love their approach, we previously enjoyed ‘Katanda’. This year we are supporting the Kalingwe community nestled high in the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains.

This natural processed coffee has soft stone fruit notes, it's sweet with a lovely cocoa finish.

Please note that espresso grind is more precise than other grind methods. Each machine and coffee is unique, so we cannot guarantee this grind will work perfectly for your setup. We highly recommend home grinding for fresher coffee. Please contact us for grinder recommendations.

People

High in the foothills of Uganda’s majestic Rwenzori Mountains, the community of Kalingwe is home to five farmer groups with around 150 dedicated producers. For the past eight years, Agri Evolve has partnered closely with these farmers — building relationships founded on trust, support, and shared commitment. Farmers carefully hand-pick only the ripest red cherries and deliver them fresh the same day, receiving top prices in return. This transparent and fair approach empowers the community to invest in quality and consistency

Planet

Agri Evolve are deeply committed to protecting the environment across the Rwenzori region. Their work includes providing farmers with tree seedlings for reforestation, distributing energy-efficient stoves to reduce firewood use and emissions, and promoting sustainable farming practices such as soil conservation, composting, and organic pest management. They ensure coffee processing is water-efficient and that waste is composted back into the soil, while also investing in solar power and shade tree planting to protect biodiversity. Through these initiatives, Agri Evolve are helping farmers build climate resilience and nurture a healthier landscape — ensuring that people, planet, and coffee thrive together

Flavour

This is a traditional natural processed coffee, where only the best and most ripe coffees are selectively picked to be sundried as whole fruit. In the cup, it offers a smooth and juicy mouthfeel with a beautiful balance of acidity. Expect notes of red berries and blueberry sweetness, layered with nougat and finished with rich dark chocolate.
